Land Rover 109 Series II - Soft Top Scale - 1:18

The idea of making a small utility vehicle was seeded by Rover's Maurice Wilks, an automotive and aeronautical engineer soon after the end of World War II. He saw the achievements of the Willys Jeep during in different war zones. Not many know this, that the first prototype of the Land Rover was produced using the chassis of a Willys Jeep that had a Rover car engine.

After several changes, the first in-house Land Rover was produced in 1948. This was called Series I and was produced for nearly a decade.

The Series II was launched in 1958 and came in two different length sizes 2200 mm (also known as 88) and 2800 mm (also known as 109) long.
