The Land Rover ½ ton Lightweight was an SUV that was specifically developed for the Royal Marines when the found that the existing Series IIA was too heavy to be airlifted by choppers. So Land Rover decided to reduce the length by 10 cm (so that it can stand over a pallet) and also make provision for several parts to be removed for re-fitment later.
The vehicle became so popular that nearly 2000 of them were produced and exported to various countries.
This model is a replica of the Land Rover's that were used during the Gulf War that took place between Aug 1990 - Feb 1991, when 35 nations joined hands with the USA to drive Saddam Hussein's Iraqi army out of Kuwait.
