The Countach was already a popular model in the 1980's and so it was time for Lamborghini to bring something new. And so they merged all their experiences into the making of the Diablo (Devil, in Italian).
Giotto Bizzarrini's designed V12 5.7 litre engine first debuted in 1990 and gave 485 hp. The next edition was the Diablo VT. The Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 appeared just after the Volkswagen Group took over the operations of Lamborghini.
