The Commando model came out during the transition period when the brand Jeep was sold by Kaiser to American Motors Corporation (AMC). The introduction of this model was to counter the growing popularity of Toyota’s Land Cruiser, Ford’s Bronco, etc.
With a 101 inch wheelbase the Jeepster Commando was also known as C101. Coming in several variants such as pick-up, roadster, stationwagon, and this convertible, the model continued to be until 1970. Nearly 60,000 of these were sold during its 3 year production run.
