Lynx Motors International Ltd. based in Hampshire, UK has been converting the Jaguar C-Type & D-Type models since 1973.
But what made them launch a premium model for the first time was when a customer brought in a Jaguar XJS to their workshop for modifying one in to a convertible. And soon they started making 4-seater convertibles out of the XJ series. Seeing its popularity soar, the management decided to go for another conversion to make an Estate version (also known as Shooting Brake). This was named Lynx Eventer.
The process to make this car began. The entire panels were completely redesigned. Even the roof was given a different shape. Since it was an Estate version the rear seats were given a different configuration that could lie flat so that a person who is 6 feet tall could sleep inside comfortably. Under the body, the rear suspension gets changed, the fuel tank that is kidney shaped accommodates the spare wheel in the middle. The painting process is elaborate and gives a high lustrous finish.
For covering the roof, vinyl was avoided, instead more luxurious material was used. The entire upholstery and carpets were super premium grade. Even a member from the house of Gucci (Italian fashion house) who had ordered an Eventer gets the car customized in special blue coloured crocodile leather.
66 of these cars were produced.
