The XJ6 Series II was introduced in 1973, and it was also the final car designed by Sir William Lyons (founder of Jaguar) before he retired.
This second generation XJ6 car was prepared to meet stricter US motor vehicle regulations, therefore necessitating the use of raised front bumpers. Modification of the bumper meant that the front grille also had to undergo some design changes. This model was produced until 1981 (over 91,000 units).
Coming in various engine options such as 2.8-litre, 3.4-litre, and also a V12 5.3-litre, this particular model with a 4.2-litre engine was used in patrolling by the Strathclyde (Glasgow) police in Scotland.
