Evolving out of the earlier made XJ 6, the Jaguar XJ 12 debuted in 1972. Powered by a 5.3 litre V12 engine, this car with Borg Warner automatic transmission could travel at a maximum speed of 225 km/hr.
In 1975, a pillarless hardtop variant called the XJ 12C was showcased to the public. After producing over 9000 cars, production ceased in 1978. The same was also produced by Daimler (UK) and also as Vanden Plas XJ-C.
