A marque of Chrysler, Imperial as a brand was in use since 1926, but in 1955 Chrysler decided to capitalise it's name fully and developing it as a separate brand.
So for the next 20 years, a number of cars with the name Imperial was produced to fight competing brands such as Cadillac and Lincoln in the luxury segment.
This Imperial Crown Southampton is a second generation car that was first built in 1957. With a special torsion bar suspension system in the front called “Torsion-Aire” the car gave a smoother ride to her passengers.
A rare collectible.
