Based on an earlier made model, Hungarian bus maker Ikarus, introduced this model in 1961. Having a length of 9.4 metres, this bus was essentially developed for cities and came in 3 variants – standard, articulated and tourist bus. The city bus standard variant had seats for 23 passengers.

These buses were exported in large numbers to Europe, Russia and distant China, Burma and even Egypt.

This scale model is a rendition of the bus that was operated by Budapesti Közlekedési Zrt. (BKV) in the capital city of Hungary, Budapest.
