The Ikarus 280 series of buses were large sized buses that came with Hungarian made RABA diesel engines. Customers also had the option to choose from DAF, Cummins, MAN and even YaMZ / KAMAZ made diesel engines. The engine location was just below the passenger compartment floor and the bus had an air-suspension system.
Produced during the years 1973-2002, the Ikarus 280 series of buses besides being sold in Hungary were exported in large numbers to Poland, Romania, Czechoslovakia and Russia.
This scale model is a rendition of the model 280.33 buses that were sold to Tajikistan in Central Asia.
