The new Honda RA106 model car that was developed by Geoffrey Willis was an evolution of the one made in the previous year. But what was unique about this car was the elimination of the single keel feature in place of a split anchorage for the two lower front suspension wishbones. The V8 engine was less bulkier and this along with the chassis that was made out of carbon fibre having a honeycomb composite structure.
At the 2006 Hungarian GP, this car sponsored by Lucky Strike Honda Racing F1 Team with British driver Jenson Button on the steering won the race and came first despite all the odds including his 14th place at the start of the race.
