
The 4th generation Honda Civic model, which was produced between 1987 and 1991, came in several variants, including, 3-door hatchback (EC/ED), 4-door sedan (EF), and 5-door station wagon (EE). It was also produced in South Africa as the Honda Ballade.
Equipped with a 1.6-litre B16A I4 engine (EF9), Japanese drivers Naoki Hattori and Katsutomo Kaneishi won the 1992 Million Card Cup Race held at the Suzuka racing circuit on September 15, 1992, by doing 32 laps maintaining an average speed of 194 km/hr.
