Gitane is a name well known in the bicycle racing world. Since 1930, this French brand have been making the best and the fastest bicycles. Bicycle champions such as Bernard Hinault, Greg LeMond only rode on Gitane's.

In order to diversify the company partnered in 1969 with a Bologna (Italy) based firm called Testi to make a range of motorcycles of 50cc, 125cc, and 175cc using the engine of a Motori Minarelli. With 17” tyre wheels it came in a 3, 4 and 6-speed version.
