Gatso 4000 Aero Coupe - 1 of 333 pieces Scale - 1:43

The Gatso 4000, a sports car was the creation of a Dutchman called Maurice Gatsonides.

Gatford, his company located at Heemstede, Netherlands chose an L-headed, liquid cooled V8 engine of a FORD Mercury and the chassis came from a manufacturer in France, called Matford, who were also distributors for American FORD cars in France. Unfortunately, Ford's office in France was not too happy about this arrangement that their own distributor was supplying chassis to a firm whose name sounded so close to their distributor i.e. Gatford-Matford.

Maurice Gatsonides volunteered to change the name of his product to Gatso.

Gatso was unique considering the fact that it was 1948. It's shape was too advanced for the times, ran 150 km/hr and had a third headlight embedded in the body above the grill. Unfortunately, he had no takers and the car did not get produced in large numbers.
