First developed in 1940, General Motors monocoque structure bus took America by storm for the next few decades. Nicknamed “Old Look” these buses came in various lengths depending on usage but was equipped with famous Detroit Diesel 2-stroke V line engine and Allison transmission.
These 30 feet long buses were built for 7 years from 1953-1960. With heating and air-conditioning system, large windows, air-suspension, over 800 were built.
Available in various configuration, these buses were easy to be identified. For example, this model TDH 3714 belonging to the Santa Monica Municipality, California (always painted in blue colour) meant the following,
