Built by the Ford Europe factory, the Ford Sierra was a large-sized family car that was launched in 1982. Looking at its growing popularity, Ford engaged the service of a famous Italian design studio Ghia to develop a stationwagon version.
This new Estate version with a 2.8-litre Ford Cologne V6 engine was given a 4WD. This model soon caught the eye of their Argentine counterparts who made the same car with a 2.3-litre engine, slightly modified front grille and naming it as the Ford Rural Sierra.
