Hubert Platt was not only one of the pioneers in drag racing but a 10-time Drag Racing Hall of Fame inductee and also an NHRA lifetime achievement award recipient. And he drove Ford's, his entire life from 1957-1977.
Soon after Ford developed a powerful engine for their Mustang model, Platt was asked to race this car. This new model with a V8 S/S (Super/Stock Manual Transmission Class) 428 Cobra Jet engine was used in a race held at the 8th edition of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) held between 2-4th February, 1968 at the Auto Club Raceway, Pomona, California.
The Ford Motor Co. participated in this race with full strength by sending five drivers - Hubert Platt, Don Nicholson, Al Joniec, Gas Ronda and Jerry Harvey.
This metal model replica is of the same (sponsored by Paul Harvey) that Hubert Platt drove in the race.
