Nicknamed as ‘pony car’ the Ford made Mustang created a new genre of small and fast sporty cars.
Roy Pierpoint began his career at a young age of 20 when he modified his FIAT 1100 and participated in a race. He drove in other hill climbing races but his big moment came when he was picked by a local company called Weybridge Engineering Company who was sponsoring a Ford Mustang for a BTCC^ race in 1965.
Built by the Alex Mann Racing Team, Roy Pierpoint took this red colour car to six wins, that season.
^ the BTCC first took place in 1958 and until 1987 was known as the British Saloon Car Championship
