Ford developed the Mondeo Zetec S model for the sole purpose of selling this sports version only for the UK market.
At the 2014 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC)^, one of the Mondeo Zetec models with a 2.5 litre V6 engine driven by Swiss driver Alain Menu won the race adding his third title (he earlier won the races in 1997 and 2000).
