Ford Capri Turbo - DRM - Winner Scale - 1:18

Designed by Phillip Clark, who was also involved in the design of the Ford Mustang, the Ford Capri was built by Ford Europe, Germany for the European market in 1968. Over a long period, they were produced and sold in good numbers.

A racing variant for the Group 5 category was built by Erich Zakowski and Peter Zakowski (father-son) of Zakspeed, a racing team and also the official representatives for Ford Europe in the German Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (DRM) racing series. With specially built aluminium body this Ford Capri Turbo model carried a Cosworth BDA-Turbo 1426 cc I-4 twin-turbo engine and was equipped with a Getrag 5-speed ZF transmission.

Only six cars were built and raced.

At the 200 Meilen von Nürnberg (DRM) event held on 28.06.1981, Zakspeed’s driver Klaus Ludwig drove the car to victory, coming in 2nd place after doing 60 laps.
