Built by FIAT’s special bus building division called FIAT Veicoli Industriali, the bus model 306 was developed as the successor to the earlier made 682RN, in 1956. This was FIAT’s first attempt to build a dedicated bus chassis instead of a body being draped over a truck chassis (a practice earlier followed).
While FIAT built the chassis, coachbuilding was left to bodybuilders such as Bianchi, Viberti, Macchi, etc. This bus 306/3 was built by another reputed coachbuilder called Cansa.
