The Eicher Tiger model was first launched in 1958 with a 1.9-litre, 2-cylinder, 4-stroke diesel engine having a power output of 25 hp. This model proved so popular for Eicher that over 15,000 units were produced in just four years, until 1962.
This tractor had a depiction of the Royal Bengal Tiger and so was named Tiger.
The Tiger was first sold in India by the Goodearth Company, who were importers of tractors and later formed the company Eicher Tractors to make this model. This model was so popular among the farmers that the Government of India issued a commemorative postcard of 15 paise.
