Introduced in 1966 to counter the beefy growing image of the Ford Mustang, Dodge made the Charger and entered in to the muscle car segment.
The Dodge Charger road version model called the RT (for Road Track) became more popular after the release of the 1968 movie 'Bullitt' in which the Charger is chased by Steve McQueen’s Ford Mustang GT in San Francisco.
This 1969 model had a powerful V8 HEMI (Dodge patented Hemispherical combustion chamber engine) that gave 425 HP. It could go 0-100 in less than 5 seconds and reach speeds of up to 250 km/hr.
