Daimler (not Daimler Benz) was an original British firm whose owners used to make BSA brand of motorcycles. They later sold the brand to Jaguar cars.
This Daimler company's new model called Dart had to change its name to Daimler SP250 since the right to the name "Dart" was held by the American automobile maker Chrysler.
Edward Turner designed the Daimler SP250 with a fibreglass body and V8 engine in the early 1960s.
Impressed by its good speed with the 2.5 litre HEMI (Hemispherical Combustion Chambers) V8 engine, the UK police also ordered around 30 cars.
