The DKW Munga was a 981 cc, 3 cylinder, 2-stroke off-roader that used an all-wheel drive (AWD) system that was the godfather to modern German AWD. According to Wikipedia, the word ‘Munga’ comes from the German phrase Mehrzweck Universal Geländewagen mit Allradantrieb, which translates as ‘multi-purpose universal cross-country car with all-wheel drive’.
This model is the four-seat version, but there were many others including one that could hold up to 8 people (Munga 8).
Serving NATO and nearly every country outside of North America, the Auto-Union DKW Munga is known for its off-road ability, utility and toughness.
