Dutch truck maker DAF created this model incorporating the engine of a Renault. The DAF 55 car was way ahead of her times when it was made in 1967 with an automatic transmission. Several variants of the car was made including an estate version.
After the success of her run at the London to Sydney rally, DAF offered her customers a special package called the Marathon. It meant that the customer had the option to have add-on extra fittings at an extra cost. Even the engine could be upgraded to a powerful 1108 cc. This version of the car had wider steel tyres, different paint finish, etc.
