BAT or the British American Tobacco Company marketed famous French made Gauloises cigarettes in Germany. BAT who had hired the advertising agency Heye & Partner for promotions wanted to come up with something innovative. So the founder of this advertising agency who owned five Citroen cars decided to make use of Citroen (French brand) for the campaign.
His company designed the first of the five Citroen vehicles and named them as “ducks”. Out of the five, three were Citroen 2CV and the other two were the Citroen Dyane. The first 2CV was an amphibian car that could go into the rivers. The second was a 2CV that was stretched limo and named “Pullman”. The third CV was a car that had two Parking meters. The last two were the Dyane model that were stretched to operate as a music vans. All the five did road shows across 35 towns.
Looking at it’s success, BAT decided to build a more longer truck model out of the Citroen Acadiane. A long trailer was attached to it. The total weight of this truck was now over 1 ton. This new vehicle was labelled as the Gauloises Truckente.
