The ‘Imperial’ range of cars was considered to be Chrysler’s finest offering to the public. Further this range was sub-divided as the Crown and the LeBaron (only as 4-door hardtop) with difference being the interior styling and trim.
Everything about this car range was essentially super-luxury. With a powerful 8-cylinder HEMI 6.9 litre engine, this car’s most unique feature was her glass encased dual head-lamps. With ‘PowerFlite’ automatic transmission the Imperial Crown had power seats, power brakes, power windows, head-rests, etc. as standard options.
One of their advertisements even claimed that out of the 52 lbs. of carefully harvested Claro walnut, only 8 oz. was used for it’s interior. So much was an Imperial’s exclusivity, that many car owners just did not attach the name Chrysler to it.
About 4000 of these were produced.
