Designed by Italian design house Ghia, this car was as a result of collaboration between Chrysler and Ghia. The overall design was completely European.
Several things on this car were innovative - pop-up spare tyre, that popped up at the rear at the touch of a button, upright 'microphone' (because they appeared like old microphones) tail lamps, flushed door handles that popped out once pulled, leather strapped suitcases (4 nos.) that accompanied the car, etc.
The design rights was later purchased by Volkswagen who applied few elements on their modified Volkswagen Beetle resulting in the making of Volkswagen Karmann Ghia.
So elegant was her design that Chrysler simply named it D'Elegance.
