The name of the Chevrolet model Corvair evolved out of two Chevrolet models, i.e., the Corvette and the Bel Air. This first generation car was an American first as the 2.4-litre air-cooled engine was at the rear and is probably America's only such car. These models were also produced in Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, and Venezuela.
