Chevrolet's Camaro, which debuted in 1966, was built on General Motors' newly developed F-body platform. The idea to develop this model was to counter the sales of Ford made Mustangs, which were growing rapidly. Chevrolet therefore offered the customer various engine options, such as the 3.8-litre, 4.1-litre, and even 5.0-litre engines.
The Chevrolet Camaro SS is a new development of the original Camaro with more powerful engine options.
In May, 2013, the Dubai Police were handed over a new Camaro SS with a powerful 6.2-litre V8 engine. The function was attended by the top police brass. Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina (now belated), who accepted the keys from the President of GM Middle East, also presented a Dubai Police plaque in return.
The car was supplied by Al Ghandi Auto, who are General Motors distributors in Dubai.
