Designed by Chief Designer of General Motors, Harley Earl, this Cadillac Series 62 model carried a powerful 5.7 litre V8 engine. Built first in 1940, the Series 62 continued to be made for the next 25 years.
It was also in 1940 that saw the introduction of the Hydra-Matic Drive an automatic drive transmission that was first developed by GM for the military. Giving customers the option to have this for just ‘extra’ US$ 57 (or US$ 1070, in today’s time), the most important interesting aspect about this car was her front grille.
With enough room to sit six passengers, this car had a torpedo-style body. Nearly 25,000 were produced during the year 1941. This scale model is a rendition of their coupe version.
