Known as Pu Yi, he was the last of the Emperors of China. How he became an Emperor is an interesting story,
His father Zaifeng (also known as Prince Chun) was a leader of a small minority community called Manchu and worked as an army inspector in the kingdom of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing dynasty. Zaifeng who soon rose in ranks, caught the eye of the Emperor and his wife over several tasks given to him. Soon after the Emperor’s death in 1908, Empress Dowager Cixi anointed Zaifeng's son Pu Yi to be the next Emperor.
So at the tender age of 2 years and 10 months, Pu Yi became the Emperor of China. This little boy did not realise what was happening during his growing years as he was only guided by the Kingdom’s representatives and his father. During this time, in 1932, two cars were purchased by the Kingdom. One was a Buick and the other, a Cadillac.
Emperor Pu Yi's innings ended in 1949 when the P.R.C (People's Republic of China) was formed after the end of civil war, therefore earning him the sobriquet as the Last Emperor of China.
This Cadillac Deluxe Tudor is an exact representation of the one that was purchased for his travel.
