Riviera in Italian means a coastline - was first chosen by Buick (a brand owned by General Motors) in 1949 for a 2-door hardtop car. For quite sometime in the fifties the same name was given to extended wheel versions of the Buick Roadmaster and Buick Super.
But the first dedicated Riviera as an independent luxury brand got evolved in 1963. Since then, the brand was produced for nearly 3 decades and over a million (10 lakh) made until 1999.
This model, a 7th generation model was produced between 1986 and 1993. This car with a V6 engine had advanced instrumentation for the driver, climate control, advanced suspension system and disc brakes provided on all the four wheels. Auto-journalists who drove the Buick Riviera always had good things to write about this premium brand.
