The Benz Patent Motorwagen Victoria was the first four-wheeled vehicle from Benz & Co. after Karl Benz made the three-wheeled Benz Patent Motorwagen seven years earlier, in 1886.
This car had a single-cylinder engine that was installed horizontally at the rear of the vehicle. Four different engine options were given to the customer after it was first produced in 1893, i.e., 1730 cc, 1990 cc, 2650 cc, and 2915 cc.
In the beginning, these Victorias were provided with a 2-speed flat-belt transmission, and three years later, the customer could also opt for one with a 3-speed planetary gearbox with reverse gear. The Victoria, had wooden spoked wheels and rigid axles with fully elliptic leaf springs.
