Soon after being purchased by Rolls-Royce, the first car that Bentley rolled out was a model called 3.5 litre which had an extra carburettor and a straight-six engine that gave 125 HP. It was so powerful that it did 0-100 km/hr (its top speed) in less than 14 seconds.
Then in the summer of 1936, Rolls-Royce launched a more powerful engine version that was of 4257 cc. This model was the Bentley 4.25 litre and was considered to be a car with a more silent engine than a Rolls-Royce. They were made for the next three years.
Vanden Plas, a Belgium firm with Works both in Belgium and Great Britain and who specialised in making some of the most expensive and luxurious cars, was given an order to make this custom built car for Kameshwar Singh Goutam Bahadur Thakur, the Maharaja of Darbhanga. At one time the Maharaja, a great automobile lover possessed more than 90 expensive cars and this car is one of them.
