Produced to meet a US military requirement for evacuating injured personnel from battlefields, the Bell Helicopter designed UH-1B Iroquois is nicknamed “Huey” (as it was first technically designated HU-1).  It was in 1952.

This chopper first saw action during the Vietnam war where it provided both evacuation services as well as supplies. Over 7000 were put to use in this conflict.
