The Bedford OB bus model was so named because it was the bus version ‘B’ made out of a ‘O’ type lorry chassis.
Introduced by Bedford to the public in 1939, the small chassis that was 14 feet in length could comfortably sit 26-29 passengers. It was then priced at GBP 1300 (today’s equivalent of GBP 76,650 or Rs. 68 lakhs)
This model of the bus became very popular across Great Britain and over 13,000 were built until 1950. Few were also exported to Australia.
