Barkas, the well-known East German automobile maker, built these from 1961. So popular were these B 1000 vans having a 3 cylinder, 2 stroke engine that they were built continuously for the next 30 years.
These were extensively used by Municipal bodies, Fire Department, factories, etc. This metal model is a replica of the one that was used by MINOL, a lubricant and oil supplier in erstwhile East Germany.
