Alpina (Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH & Co. KG) is a car engine tuning specialist and works closely with the BMW cars. Originally based on the BMW made 535i, the new model was developed at a cost of over US$ 3 million.
In 1989, when the first model of the BMW Alpina B10 3.5 Bi-Turbo rolled out, this car had MAHLE made special forged pistons, twin Garette T25 water-cooled turbochargers, Bilstein shock absorbers, anti-roll bars, Fichtel & Sachs hydro-pneumatic suspension, etc. This powerful car would do 0-100 km/hr in 5.5 seconds and had a top speed of nearly 300 km/hr.
Belgian racing driver and journalist (later) Paul Frère (a person who raced in eleven F1 races) summed up the car in one sentence - "For me this is the car … I think the best 4-door model in the world? "
Alpina made about 500 of these until 1984.
