BMW felt the need to participate in the very first season of the Group A racing class in 1982 and so raced their 528i sedan. Though they won the championship they had to face a lot of resistance against other car makers.
So for the next year they decided to field their more powerful 635 CSi (E24) model as they envisaged a tough fight from the Tom Walkinshaw Racing Team (TWR) who were fielding their V12 Jaguar XJS. BMW however had to fine tune a lot of internals in the machine. Also since FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) had a rule that a minimum of 5000 cars need to be produced for the roads before the same model can participate in the race they had no other option but to settle for the 635CSi. What turned out was a very powerful car that outclassed several other models of other brands.
In 1984, the Jägermeister sponsored BMW 635 CSi driven by Hans-Joachim Stuck won the championship. This resin model is highly detailed and desirable.
