The E12 range of cars produced during the 1972-1981 years was considered as the New Class range. More popular as the BMW 5-series, the BMW 520 was designed by Frenchman Paul Bracq (who also designed the Peugeot 505, BMW 1600 Ti, Simca 1100).
With a BMW made M10 2.0-litre inline-four engine under the bonnet, the BMW 520 with a Solex 4A1 carburettor rolled out first in 1972.
