Avia is a Czech automobile firm that has a long history since 1919. It started first producing aircraft before diversifying in to making of trucks after World War II. In 2006, Indian automobile major Ashok Leyland purchased the financially loss making unit and tried to revive it.
The first development was of this D-Line trucks. After managing the firm for few years, Ashok Leyland sold the unit to another company before moving the production base of the D-Line to India in 2013. The truck model was renamed in India as Ashok Leyland Boss and rolled out with three different wheelbase lengths.
