Essentially, a 1953 DKW made 3=6* car, these were produced as Auto Union 1000S with a more powerful 981 cc engine and were made with the 4 ring logo from 1958 onwards. Nearly 2 lakh cars were made during 6 years of manufacturing with the Auto Union logo.
This model was also produced in Argentina. This scale model is a rendition of their estate model.
* The logic behind the naming of the original model 3=6 was because DKW the original firm wanted to convey that their car's 2-stroke 3 cylinder engine was equal to any other 4-stroke, 6 cylinder car engine.
