In 1947, Austin launched her most expensive car. Known as Princess A120, this car that was built after World War II was more powerful than her predecessor, the A110 (Austin Sheerline). The body was built by well-known coachbuilder Vanden Plas. Used as a limousine by the rich, few of the models were also modified as hearse.
In 1971, John Lennon of The Beatles purchased this hearse model and converted the same into his personal car after few modifications that included aeroplane seats for a more comfortable ride.
This scale model has high detailing including a metal framework on its roof that was used to hold wreaths. Inside the car, one can easily see the load bed for transporting the coffin, etc.
