Aston Martin DB11 - Blue Scale - 1:18

Making its debut during the 2016 Geneva Auto Show as a replacement for the earlier popular model DB9, the Aston Martin DB11 already evoked a keen interest at the show and a month later had bookings of nearly 2000 cars.

Designed by Marek Reichmann (an old Rover hand), the DB11 includes new elements in design. Take for example the use of the Aeroblade, Reichmann wanted to avoid the use of the usual big rear wing as an instrument to increase speed while downforce* gets generated during speed. With the help of Aeroblade, air is directed towards the opening of the C-pillar forcing it to be channelised through ducts which then exits out of a tiny opening on the rear deck lid that presses the rear wheels on a surface. More excess air was dealt with the deployment of a rear spoiler that increased speed. With a 5.2 litre V12 engine that generates 600 hp, the DB11 could touch 0-100 in less than 4 seconds.

This is a highly detailed resin model and stands on a special plinth encased inside an expensive acrylic glass display case.

* downforce is a downwards thrust created by the aerodynamic characteristics of a car. The purpose of downforce is to allow a car to travel faster through a corner by increasing the vertical force on the tires, thus creating more grip.
