Hungarian immigrant Vittorio Jano designed some of the world’s greatest racing cars for Alfa Romeo. One of them was this 2.4 litre, 8-cylinder supercharged engine labelled Alfa Romeo 8C. So good and powerful was this car, that it won not only few races at the Mille Miglia in Italy, but also several at the Le Mans in France.
At the 1932 edition of Le Mans, this car driven by Frenchman Raymond Sommer and Italian Luigi Chinetti for 24 hours came first in spite of Luigi falling ill (with high temperature) during the race.
