Developed and designed by the legendary Vittorio Jano, (a Hungarian who worked for Alfa Romeo, Lancia and at the end of his life was closely associated with Enzo Ferrari), the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Spider was a car modern for her times with double overhead cams, hemispherical combustion chambers, triple carburettors, sweeping fenders, etc.
The model number 6C stood for (6 cylinders) and the SS stood for Super Sports.
With the body from Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring, this car with a 2.5 litre engine debuted first in a race before being sold to the public in 1939.
